Business Forefront 1.0

Students from the October 2024 and February 2025 intakes participated in Business Forefront 1.0. The event featured three stages, each designed to challenge and showcase students’ creativity and presentation skills. The first half of the event was all about creativity, where students used their innovative ideas to present their ideas on charts, displaying them. In the second half, participants engaged in group presentations for IBS and PSSR. Students from both the High Wycombe and Uxbridge campuses delivered their presentations. Semester 1 students presented on Marketing Strategies, showcasing innovative ideas and strategic insights of selected organisations mentioned in their assignment brief, while Semester 2 students focused on How to Become an Effective Student, sharing valuable approaches to academic success. A panel selected the top three winners from each semester based on their outstanding presentations. To recognise their achievement and boost their confidence, all winners received gift prizes. The event provided an excellent platform for students to enhance their critical thinking, creativity, and presentation skills. The activity is led by Programme Lead BNU and Head of Human Resource, Dr Ali Raza Nemati, Head of Quality, Murray Cooper, and Dr Ayoub (Course Leader from BNU), who also joined and actively participated in visiting student groups.

Held in High Wycombe, the event brought together thought leaders, industry experts, and academics to explore the future of AI, business, and human resources. The event began with the AI Summit, which was a tremendous success, featuring insightful discussions and outstanding contributions from all speakers, including Giancarlo Era, Ejaz Chowdary, Ashwin Mehta, Chavon Clark, and Neil Lindford. This was followed by an engaging and well-structured panel discussion, expertly led by Dr. Ali Raza Nemati. The session provided valuable insights and sparked meaningful dialogue, thanks to the contributions of our esteemed panelists: Professor Damien Page, Jordan Legg, Mike O’Flynn, and Dr. Prerna Tambay. The final segment, DisruptHR, featured an inspiring lineup of speakers who captivated the audience with their unique topics, fresh perspectives, and valuable learning experiences. A special thank you to Bill Banham, Felicia Richards, Shweta Kelkar, Juan Castile, Nigel Gracie, Professor Sarah William, and Mike O’Flynn for their incredible contributions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) for partnering with us and providing the venue. This event brought together students and faculty from the BA (Hons) Business Management & Foundation Year programmes, united by a mission to raise awareness and inspire positive action in the fight against breast cancer. The day featured a powerful video session that emphasised the importance of early detection, one of the most critical factors in improving breast cancer survival rates. Through engaging visuals and informative discussions, participants learned about prevention measures and the latest advancements in early detection, equipping them with essential knowledge to share within their communities. By hosting events like these, Magna Carta College reaffirms its commitment to supporting causes that impact lives. Magna Carta College Student Induction 2024   The crisp October air was filled with excitement as students from various backgrounds gathered for the Student Induction 2024 at Magna Carta College (MCC). Taking place on two consecutive days—October 5th and 6th—this year’s induction marked the official start of a new academic journey for the eager students. Day 1: Uxbridge Campus – Buckinghamshire New University On October 5th, the Uxbridge Campus of Buckinghamshire New University played host to a lively crowd of fresh faces, eager to embark on their educational adventure. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as students were welcomed by Murray Cooper, the programme lead at MCC, who delivered an inspiring address. His words set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of self-discovery, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity. The highlight of the day was the opportunity for students to meet with faculty members and lecturers. These informal interactions provided students with invaluable insights into their academic paths and what to expect in the coming months. Faculty members shared words of wisdom and encouragement, offering a glimpse into the personalized support students could anticipate throughout their time at MCC. Of course, induction day wouldn’t be complete without a chance for students to meet one another. With diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, networking between students was both enriching and energizing. Student-Led Marketing Strategies ShineOver the semester, students worked in teams to develop comprehensive marketing plans for real-world products and services offered by various organisations. The Marketing Connect event offered these teams a platform to present their strategies, explain their thought processes, and receive feedback from university staff, industry experts, and peers. The event commenced with a welcome from Murray Cooper, Programme Lead at MCC, followed by a keynote address from  Professor Sarah Williams, Head of the School of Business and Law at BNU. Professor Williams herself has a very strong background in marketing and her specialist area of interest/research is digital marketing and public relations. Her talk focused on encouraging students to think about how marketing affects social and cultural behaviour, and she also guided them to think about the impact marketing has been able to make when paired with the latest technology. Awards and Recognition for Best PresentationsStudents’ engagement was evident throughout the day, with each team delivering thoughtful presentations backed by thorough research and strategic insights. The quality of work showcased at the event was a testament to the dedication and effort the students had put into their projects. The event also featured a competitive edge, as the best presentations were awarded for their creativity, market insight, and strategic planning. All participating students were presented with certificates in recognition of their hard work, further validating their dedication to the programme. Industry Support and EncouragementOne of the key highlights was a talk by Ian Harper, Commercial & Business Development Director at MCC, who took the opportunity to not only encourage the students but also share valuable insights into how marketing and business development are key drivers in today’s commercial world. His words served as both motivation and appreciation for the students’  efforts and the learning process they have been a part of. Ian took the opportunity to introduce the students to the BNU Student Hub, a dynamic platform that offers a range of activities and resources designed to support student development. He highlighted how the Hub would be particularly beneficial for weekend students, providing them with opportunities for networking, skill-building workshops, and academic support during their studies. In her closing note, Sumbal Manzoor, Deputy Programme Lead at MCC, praised the students’ active participation and collaboration throughout the semester, reiterating that the event was a shining example of what the BNU-MCC partnership stands for—academic excellence and real-world application. She thanked all staff from the university who took the time to attend the event and motivated the students to continue their journey of success and achievement. Positive Feedback from University StaffUniversity staff in attendance expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback about the event, recognising the students’ achievements and the importance of fostering such collaborative learning environments. Senior Lecturer in Business and Partnerships within the School of Business and Law Dr Ayoub Zouria (SFHEA) appreciated the students’ work and their efforts. Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Sustainability Hajrija Dergić 🌱 met the students’ and was very impressed with their commitment to their pursuit of higher education; balancing work and family life during the week to study on weekends.  She mentioned that this flexible structure allows students to balance work and life while pursuing a high-quality education, making it a game-changer for those seeking to advance their careers or change paths.
